Competent Person Work-at-Height training is highly regarded because it is structured to put employers and employees in the best possible position to prevent / control fall hazards and demonstrate due-diligence. All Work-at-Height programs require demonstrations of knowledge through hands-on, experiential exercises of all items of fall protection equipment and related skills that an employer must train on. Training information is current and accurate, but more importantly all students "learn by doing". All training programs comply with ANSI/ASSE Z359.2 - Minimum Requirements for a Comprehensive Managed Fall Protection Program as well as the applicable occupational safety laws of the jurisdiction in which the training is being delivered (OSHA 1926.503, 1910.30, Cal OSHA, WA DOSH, Oregon OSHA, EM385, etc.). WAH Training includes:
The Competent Person course is designed for people that directly influence the fall protection program by implementing policies, supervising work, selecting equipment, taking corrective actions, and being a resource to others. The course duration is 24 hours, but may increase if descent control systems or administrative controls are in use. This course is best suited for those people that have a level of authority within the fall protection program to identify and control fall hazards. Most people with the competent person title are responsible for fall protection for a group of people, work area, work process, all equipment, or training and supervision of others.
